The Voluntary consumer
organizations applying for the awards must fulfill the following conditions:-
i)
It
should be a registered voluntary consumer organization working whole time
purely for the promotion and protection of consumer interests;
ii)
The
applicant Voluntary Consumer Organization must have at least 100 members;
iii)
It
should have been actively and continuously engaged for the cause of consumer
protection for at least during the last 5 years;
iv)
It
should be non-political, non-official and under non-proprietary management and
not an outfit of any Industry or Business Houses or promoted by them;
v)
It
should not be run for profit for any individual or group of individuals but
should serve the general public without distinction of caste, creed, color and
religion;
vi)
It
should not have received any prize/award for the same work from any other
Department/Ministry of the Central Government for the same period;
vii)
It
should not have been involved in any financial or managerial irregularities of
any kind or any court cases pending against them for such reasons;
viii)
It
should have documentary evidence relating to consumer welafre activities which
resulted in visible impacts on the ground;
ix)
The
managerial staff should have thorough knowledge of subject of consumer
protection and up to date information on latest consumer issues.
